2012 Season - Women's Track & Field ranked 20th

Junior Sarahbeth Jones leads 20th ranked Augustana into the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championship on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25 in Naperville, Illinois.

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – Heading into the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin indoor track & field championships this weekend in Naperville, Augustana is ranked 20 th in the NCAA Division III indoor dual meet rankings. The Vikings now have 124.51 points, raising their point total from the 121.52 points last week. They stayed in 20 th place for the second week in a row..

This poll, conducted by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, quantifies the depth of each team. The team’s total score is the sum of all points earned in each event. Two individual athletes are scored per event, as well as one relay team. The points are based on the best marks of an event in the current season, with the faster times and farther distances worth more.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology stayed on the top of the rankings for the third consecutive week, accumulating 150.63 points. UW Oshkosh (148.56) remained in second, while Ithaca jumped up to third with 144.68 points.

The CCIW meet with feature three teams ranked in the top 20 with North Central (sixth with 140.34 points) and Illinois Wesleyan (18 th with 125.98 points) joining the Vikings.

Augustana has competed in six meets so far this season and the Vikings have second place finishes in the Dubuque Invitational on January 14, the Wartburg Lutheran Invitational on January 28 and the Augustana Invitational on January 16. They were third at the Illinois College Invitational on February 4.
