2011-12 Season - Holt takes fourth in CCIW 200 IM

Freshman Michael Duy finished eighth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:47.84 in the first day of competition at the CCIW Championship on Thursday, February 16 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Freshman Aaron Holt (Mt. Vernon HS, Mt. Vernon, Ill.) recorded the top individual finish for Augustana on the first day of the 2012 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin men's swimming & diving championships on Thursday, February 16. The event was held at Carthage in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Holt grabbed fourth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:55.62, four seconds better than his previous best this season. He shattered the Augustana school record in the process, taking down the existing mark of 1:58.68 set by Tom Hancock in 1986. He also handled the leadoff leg on the 200 freestyle relay that placed fourth in 1:26.71, also a season's best. Joining Holt on that unit were junior Chris Greaves (Morris HS, Morris, Ill.), senior Charlie Vogt (Oak Park-River Forest HS, Oak Park, Ill.) and sophomore Daniel Hinck (Loves Park Harlem HS, Loves Park, Ill.).

Freshman Michael Duy (Marmion Academy, Aurora, Ill.) took eighth in the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:47.84 after recording a season's best time of 4:46.83 in the preliminary round. Hinck was 11th in 4:49.55 and sophomore Austin Zarbuck (Urbana HS, Urbana, Ill.) took 12th in 4:53.44. Vogt placed 14th in the 50 freestyle in :22.41.

The 400 medley relay team of Holt, sophomore Ryan Chaney (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa), Greaves and Vogt finished fourth in 3:36.56, another season's best.

Augustana was fourth with 132 points, while Wheaton took over first with 313 points. Carthage was second with 271 and Illinois Wesleyan was third with 150. Rose-Hulman (107), Millikin (56) and North Central (45) rounded out the field behind the Vikings.
