2011-12 Season - Ferguson takes fifth in CCIW 50 freestyle
|Sophomore Hillary Ferguson finished fifth in the CCIW Championship on Thursday, February 16 in the 50 freestyle with a time of :24.77.|
Sophomore Hillary Ferguson (Waubonsie Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) paced the Augustana effort in the first day of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women's swimming & diving championship on Thursday, February 16 at Carthage in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She finished fifth in the 50 freestyle to help lead the Vikings to fourth place in the team standings.
Ferguson went :24.79 in the final of the 50 after recording a season's best :24.65 in the preliminary round. Ferguson anchored the 200 freestyle relay to a sixth place finish with a time of 1:40.58. She was joined in that relay by junior Alexandra Piper (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.), junior Emma Regnier (Grayslake North HS, Lake Villa, Ill.) and junior Molly Clennon (Benet Academy, Naperville, Ill.).
Clennon placed 10th in the 500 freestyle with a season's best time of 5:18.50.
The 400 medley relay team of freshman Beth Cole (Muscatine HS, Muscatine, Iowa), sophomore Elizabeth O'Hara (Westosha Central HS, Salem, Wis.), freshman Alexis Thompson (Crystal Lake South HS, Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill.) and sophomore Erin Doty (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) finished sixth in 4:40.18.
Augustana stands in fourth place after the first day of competition with 115 points. Illinois Wesleyan leads with 285 points while Wheaton is second with 262 and Carthage third with 253. Behind Augustana are North Central (104), Millikin (61) and Rose-Hulman (53).
