2012 Season - Vikings tabbed for fifth in CCIW baseball poll

Coach Greg Wallace’s Vikings have been pegged for fifth place in the 2012 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin baseball race according to a preseason poll of the league’s coaches. Augustana, which finished 28-12 a year ago, including 12-9 in the conference, received 27 points in the poll—one behind Wheaton for fourth place and two more than sixth-place pick North Central. Carthage and Illinois Wesleyan share the favorite’s mantle, getting 45 points and three first-place votes each.
North Park, which tied Illinois Wesleyan for the regular season title in 2011, was tabbed for third with 29 points and received one first-place vote. Despite being picked for sixth, North Central received the other first-place nod. Elmhurst, with 15 points and Millikin with 10, rounded out the poll.
