2012 Season - Rindone honored by CCIW
|Junior Alex Rindone was named the "Athlete of the Week" in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for his performance in the Midwest Invitational on Saturday, January 21 in Monmouth, Illinois. Rindone won the 60 and 300 meter dashes and established a new Augustana school record in the 300 with a time of :35.07.|
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Augustana junior Alex Rindone (Marmion Academy, Geneva, Ill.) has been selected as the "Athlete of the Week" for men's track & field in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. Rindone was a double winner at the Midwest Invitational on Saturday, January 21 in Monmouth, Illinois.
Rindone set a new Augustana school record in the 300 with a winning time of :35.07, breaking his own mark of :35.74 set a year ago in the same meet. He also won the 60 meter dash with a time of :07.09.
Rindone opened the 2012 season with a fourth place finish in the 55 meter dash at the Sol Butler Invitational on January 14 in Dubuque, Iowa. He ran :06.65 in that event and also ran a leg on the 1600 relay that won with a time 3:28.39.
A year ago Rindone set school records in both the 300 and the 200 (:22.19) during the indoor season. He won the 55 at the CCIW meet and also ran a leg on the Vikings' conference champion 1600 relay team. In the outdoor season he was just as impressive, setting a school record in the 200 with a time of :21.21 and winning two individual (100 & 200) and two relay titles (400 & 1600 relays) at the CCIW outdoor meet.
A communications major, Rindone is the son of Paul & Jill Rindone of Geneva, Illinois.
