2011-12 Season - Zarbuck, Holt win at Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa-Sophomore Austin Zarbuck (Urbana HS, Urbana, Ill.) and freshman Aaron Holt (Mount Vernon HS, Mount Vernon, Ill.) and each earned victories on day two of the Grinnell Invitational Saturday. Their performances helped the Vikings finish fourth in the seven-team field with 660.5 points. The host Pioneers won the event with 1290.5 points.
Holt won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of :52.98 while Zarbuck captured the 1650 freestyle with a 17:58.96 clocking. Holt also took third in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:00.08, and led off both the third-place 400 freestyle relay (3:15.65) and seventh-place 200 medley relay (1:44.40).
Freshman Josh Wielenga (School of Environmental Study, Apple Valley, Minn.) was a second-place finisher in the one-meter diving competition, totaling 332.30 points.
Sophomore Daniel Hinck (Harlem HS. Loves Park, Ill.) was fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:47.91) and sixth in the 50 freestyle (:22.54) and anchored both the 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays.
Freshman Michael Duy (Marmion Academy, Aurora, Ill.) took fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:49.47) while sophomore Chris Greaves (Morris HS, Morris, Ill.) (1:51.02) was ninth in the same event. Greaves also claimed a sixth-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.63. Duy also swam the third leg of the 400 freestyle relay.
Senior Charles Vogt (Oak Park-River Forest HS, Oak Park, Ill.) swam the second leg of the 400 freestyle relay and sophomore Jasen Hengst (Bettendorf HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) and senior Joey Waldorf (Bloomington HS, Bloomington, Ill.) rounded out the 200 medley relay team.
Gustavus Adolphus finished second in the team standings with 1239.5 points, followed by Luther (669.5) and Augustana. Macalester (231), Coe (180) and Simpson (93) rounded out the team scores.
Next up for coach Scott Johannsen's squad is a diving competition at the University of Illinois on January 28, followed by Monmouth College's Quad Meet on February 4. Western Illinois and Valparaiso will be the others competing at Monmouth.
