2011-12 Season - Vikings slip to 6th in NCAA poll

| Senior guard Griffin Dwyer and his Augustana teammates are now 6th in NCAA Division III. Dwyer, who scored 6 points and hauled in three offensive rebounds in the Vikings loss to North Central, has seen action in ten games so far this year and has scored 35 points and pulled down 18 rebounds. |
In the second national poll of the New Year, Augustana dropped three places to sixth in the NCAA Division III men's basketball poll. The Vikings garnered 460 points in the latest D3hoops.com national ranking, 163 less than they had the previous week. Veteran coach Grey Giovanine's team opened up College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin play last week with a win January 4th against Millikin and a loss at home to North Central last Saturday. The Vikings record now stands at 11-2 (1-1). Augustana resumes conference play tonight, squaring off against longtime foe and newly ranked No. 25 Illinois Wesleyan at 7:30 in Bloomington, Illinois.
Middlebury continued to hold the number one spot in the poll with 623 points and 23 first place votes. Virginia Wesleyan remained second with 584 points and one first place vote while Massachusetts Institute of Technology moved up to occupy the third spot with 563 points with remaining first place vote.
