Augustana freshman Aaron Holt (Mount Vernon Township HS, Mount Vernon, Ill.) is off to a tremendous start in his collegiate swimming career. The 2011-12 season is not yet to Christmas and already Holt has been named the “Swimmer of the Week” in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin three times.
He won the honor today for the third time this year following a tremendous performance in a 132-99 dual meet loss at Loras on Friday, December 9 in Dubuque, Iowa. Holt won the “Swimmer of the Week” award on November 1 after a dual meet with Millikin and again on November 22 after the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.
Last Friday against Loras he won the 200 individual medley in 1:59.91 and the 100 backstroke in :53.87. He also swam the leadoff leg on the 200 freestyle relay team that finished second in 1:30.39.
So far this year Holt owns the fastest time for the Vikings in six individual events. He swam :22.19 in the 50 freestyle and :48.68 in the 100 freestyle at the Grinnell Invitational over the weekend of December 2-3. He went :53.47 in the 100 butterfly at Grinnell and posted times of :53.65 and 1:59.79 in the 100 and 200 backstroke events, respectively on the same weekend. For good measure he posted a time 1:59.14, also at Grinnell, in the 200 individual medley.
He also has been on the number one relay in all five relay events this year.
Aaron is the son of Jeffery and Lori Holt of Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
