2011 Season - Vikings fall in CCIW semi-finals to Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill. - Three second-half goals proved to be too much to overcome for Augustana on Wednesday, November 2 as Wheaton scored a 4-0 victory at McCully Field East. The match was in the semi-final round of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women’s soccer tournament.
Wheaton, the regular season CCIW champion, to a 1-0 lead in the first half with a goal by Anna Seabolt that came on a header off a corner kick from Keri Shannon.
Down 1-0 at intermission, Augustana had a shot by junior Taylor Moesle (Carl Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) in the first four minutes of the second half and followed that with a corner kick from senior Megan Mummert (Crawfordsville HS, Crawfordsville, Ind.) less than a minute later. Neither of those chances resulted in a goal and Wheaton made it 2-0 at 53:19 on a goal by Keri Shannon. Shannon was assisted on the play by Katelyn Kishkunas.
The Thunder moved the score to 3-0 at 64:46 with Sarah Guidera scoring off an assist by Jaime Orewiler. The final goal of the night came at 76:17 with Hillary Quinn scoring and Val Lelle assisting.
Wheaton held a 25-9 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Moesle led Augustana with eight assists, including two on-goal.
Wheaton moves to 18-1-1 on the season and will host the CCIW championship on Saturday, November 5 while Augustana ends its season at 11-8-1.
