2011-12 Season - Vikings picked as CCIW favorite by conference coaches

Augustana, defending CCIW regular season co-champs were picked to repeat in 2011-12 in a poll of the league's coaches.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The men's basketball coaches in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin have chosen Augustana as the favorite to win in the 2011-12 race. The Vikings, defending co-champs with North Central, received five first-place votes and 47 total points in the poll.

 North Central received two first-place votes and was picked for second with a total of 42 points. Wheaton, who was tabbed for third with 39 points, got the remaining first place vote. Rounding out the poll were Illinois Wesleyan in fourth place (28 points), followed by Carthage (27), North Park (18), Elmhurst (16) and Millikin (seven).

 Coach Grey Giovanine's Vikings are coming off a season in which they went 27-4 overall, winning the second most games in school history. They tied North Central for the conference's regular season title at 11-3 and defeated Wheaton and Illinois Wesleyan to win the conference tournament. Giovanine returns four starters and 11 letter winners from that team.
