2011 Season - Augustana now sixth in Central Region

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Coach Brenton Joseph's Augustana men's soccer team moved up one spot to sixth in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America rankings. The Vikings dropped a 3-1 decision Friday at second-ranked North Park, but rebounded with a 3-1 victory at home over St. Ambrose on Sunday.
Next up for Joseph's crew is a home contest against Wheaton on Wednesday, October 19. That match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Thorson-Lucken Field. On Saturday, October 22, the Vikings take on Illinois Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m. in Bloomington, Illinois.
The top four spots in the rankings stayed the same as last week, with Washington University (12-1-0) holding down the top spot. North Park (9-0-3) is second, followed by Calvin (11-3-1) in third and Dominican (13-2-0) in fourth. Trine (10-2-2) jumped to fifth, up from ninth a week ago. After sitting in a tie for seventh last week, Augustana is in the sixth spot this week. Carthage (8-5-2) and Hope (8-4-3) are tied for seventh with Westminster (8-3-3) in ninth and Greenville (9-5-3) and Concordia (Wis.) (11-4-1) tied for tenth.
