2011 Season - Viking women up to eighth in Central Region

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - After wins last week over Knox (9-0) and North Park (3-0), coach Scott Mejia's Augustana women's soccer team moved up one spot in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Central Region rankings. The Vikings, who host top-ranked Wheaton Wednesday evening, moved past Alma into eighth place in this week's poll.
Augustana, now 10-4-1 on the season will take on the top-ranked Thunder (14-0-1) at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19 at Thorson-Lucken Field. Another huge contest looms on Saturday, October 22, when the Vikings travel to Bloomington to face third-ranked Illinois Wesleyan (10-2-1).
Washington University (11-3-0) remained in the second spot followed by Illinois Wesleyan, the University of Chicago (7-4-2) and Aurora (13-3-0). Principia (9-3-1) holds down the sixth position, with Adrian (11-4-0) seventh. After Augustana at number eight, comes Alma (12-2-1) and Hope (10-3-0).
