2011 Season - Mummert's goal gives Augustana win over Big Blue

Megan Mummert's first goal of the season gave Augustana a 1-0 win over Millikin Saturday at Thorson-Lucken Field.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill.-Megan Mummert (Crawfordsville HS, Crawfordsville, Ind.) scored her first goal of the season in the 67th minute Saturday to give Augustana a 1-0 win over Millikin at Thorson-Lucken Field. The win pushes the Vikings' record to 7-4-1 on the year, including 2-0 in CCIW play. The Big Blue drop to 6-3-1 overall and 1-2 in the league.

Taylor Moesle (Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) was credited with her team-high fifth assist on Mummert's goal. The junior hit Mummert with a feed from the right side and the senior found the back of the net from 15 yards out.

The match was a defensive struggle throughout, with the teams getting off a total of just 21 shots and the hosts holding a slight 11-10 advantage in that statistic. Augustana also had a 5-1 edge in corners.

Senior Kayla Radloff (West Chicago HS, West Chicago, Ill.) went the distance in goal, recording seven saves and getting her fifth win and fourth shutout of the season.

Coach Scott Mejia's Vikings are back in action on Sunday afternoon, taking on their namesakes from Lawrence at Thorson-Lucken Field. That match is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m.
