2011-12 Season - Augustana 2nd after CCIW day one

Sophomore Jamie Lawrence shot an 84 Thursday, as did junior teammate Morgan Wilkinson. The two are tied for 12th place individually and helped Augustana to a second-place tie after the first day of the CCIW Championship at Emeis Golf Course in Davenport, Iowa.

DAVENPORT, Iowa-Outstanding balance has host Augustana tied for second place after the first day of the 2011 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Women's Golf Championship at Emeis Golf Course. Behind rounds of 84 by sophomore Jamie Lawrence (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) and junior Morgan Wilkinson (Westmont HS, Westmont, Ill.), the Vikings sit in a three-way tie for second behind nine-time defending champion Illinois Wesleyan.

 The Titans had four of the top ten finishers Thursday--led by second-place Katie Klosterman (73)--to shoot a combined 317 and grab a 22-stroke lead over Augustana, Carthage and North Central. After that trio at 339, Millikin is fifth with a 342. The Big Blue's Brittany Holmes leads the individual standings after shooting a two-under round of 70. Rounding out the team standings are Elmhurst in sixth at 348, Wheaton in seventh at 352 and North Park in eighth at 424.

 Although Augustana had no competitors higher than 12th in the day one individual standings, none of the six Vikings rank lower than 27th. After Wilkinson and Lawrence, both tied for 12th, Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) is tied for 15th after a round of 85. Dena Capitani (Hinsdale Central HS, Hinsdale, Ill.) shot an 86 and is tied for 19th. Kelly Farina (Normal West HS, Bloomington, Ill.) carded an 87 to tie for 21st and Brittany Carr's (Lincoln-Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.) 89 has her in 27th place after the first day.

 The tournament continues with another round starting at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 7 and the final round is scheduled for Saturday, October 8, also at 10:00 a.m.
