Children, families invited to create art for the season
October 04, 2011
Kaleidoscope also offers two festive workshops. On October 15 from 1-2:30 p.m., the Scarecrow Workshop provides a great opportunity for children ages 6 and up and their parents to participate in creating scarecrows large and small for indoors and out. Participants will stitch and construct using a variety of materials. On October 22 from 1-2:30 p.m., Kaleidoscope will sponsor a Halloween Workshop, in which children ages four through 12 can create a variety of ghoulish ghosts, pumpkins, masks and other scary Halloween treats.
The Kaleidoscope faculty includes practicing artists and art educators from the Quad-Cities area with advanced training in art. Several faculty members teach in area schools and most have taught in the Kaleidoscope program for several years. Directors Rowen Schussheim-Anderson and Corrine Smith teach in the art department at Augustana College.
Autumn ARTivities continues with a second session in November. More information on the program can be found at www.augustana.edu/kaleidoscope. For questions or to register, please call (309) 794-7747.
