Peter Tong Xiao was born in Beijing, China and grew up during Mao's Cultural Revolution. As a professor of painting and drawing, husband, and father of two children living in the U.S. today, he is in a unique position to process/express his experience of China and being Chinese in America. His paintings reference historical circumstances, but transcend politics and cultures with their universal messages about power, freedom, sorrow, empathy, and beauty. This exhibition is presented in conjunction with SAU's China Project.
