2011-12 Season - Groselak leads men's golf at Monmouth

Freshman Jake Groselak shot 78 and placed fifth individually to lead Augustana at the VikeFireScot Cup on Thursday, September 22 at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth, Illinois.

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Freshman Jake Groselak (Lemont HS, Lemont, Ill.) led the Augustana attack with a 78 as the Vikings placed fourth in the Vike/Fire/Scot Cup on Thursday, September 22 at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth, Illinois. Monmouth teams took the first three places in the event with scores of 304, 314 and 322 while Augustana was fourth with 332, Knox was fifth at 339 and the Augustana Gold team was sixth with 346.

Groselak shot 41 on the front nine and 37 on the back nine for his 78 on the par 17, 6,239 yard layout. Sean McNamara of Monmouth won the event with a 71 while Ryan Suttles of the Monmouth White team was second at 74. Cory Fell of Monmouth and James Fenner of Knox tied for third with identical scores of 77.

Junior Jeff Paustian (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) shot an 84 (40+44) and was 18th. Junior Curtis Lubic (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) and freshman Max Channon (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.) had scores of 85. Lubic went 43 + 42 while Channon shot 42 + 43. Freshman Josh Kukla (Zion-Benton HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) had a 92 (84 + 44).

On the Augustana Gold team freshman Grant Murphy (Dunlap HS, Peoria, Ill.) led the way with a score of 83 (41 + 42).
