Augustana to debut harp program at recital Sept. 27
September 23, 2011
Erin Freund, adjunct professor of harp at Augustana College, will give her debut performance as a new faculty member and dedicate the new harp program at Augustana, made possible in part by Kim and Donna Brunner.
The recital will begin at 8 p.m. Sept. 27 in Wallenberg Hall in Denkmann Memorial Hall.
For the first time, Augustana offers an emphasis in harp to music majors and minors. The new program already has attracted several incoming students. Additionally, Freund offers lessons to non-majors and members of the Quad Cities community.
Freund has a doctor of Musical Arts from Northwestern University, and has extensive solo, chamber, and orchestral performance experience. In addition to teaching and performance, she is a composer and transcriber for harp, and evaluates instruments for the world-renowned Lyon & Healy harp factory.
Freund will play pieces that display the ablilities of the harp as a solo instrument. She will accompany Dr. Janina Ehrlich on cello in Arvo Part's popular Fratres.
