NAPERVILLE, Ill.- Augustana sophomore Jamie Lawrence (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) was today named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Women's Golfer of the Week. Lawrence shot back-to-back 83's this past weekend at the Benedictine Invitational in West Chicago, Illinois, tying for third place individually and helping the Vikings to the team title.
Behind Lawrence's effort, Augustana topped the seven-team field with a total of 666, 12 strokes ahead of second-place Ashford. Lawrence's two-round total of 166 was 12 strokes off the pace set by individual medalist Muriel McIntyre of Concordia and just one stroke back of runner-up Brittany Boon of Ashford. There were a total of 47 individuals in the field.
For the season, Lawrence is averaging 91.0 strokes over four rounds in three events. Her two 11-over par rounds on Saturday and Sunday were her best of the young season and the tie for third place equaled her best career finish, matching a third-place tie at last season's Fighting Scots Spring Invitational.
Jamie, an English, education and psychology major, is the daughter of Tom and Donna Lawrence of Moline, Illinois.
