2011-12 Season - Men's golf places 11th at Duane Chanay Invitational
Augustana men’s golf team took the course in the Duane Chanay Invitational in Port Byron, Illinois on Friday September, 9th. The Vikings placed 11th in the 18 team event at Byron Hills golf course. Augustana shot 308 to fall 20 strokes back of champion Waubonsee’s 288.
Augustana was led by freshman Josh Kukla (Zion-Benton HS, Winthrop Harber, Ill.) who shot a 74 on the day to finish tied for 14th on the individual leader board. Teammate Curtis Lubic (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) and Jake Groselak (Lemont HS, Lemont, Ill.) both followed with scores of 77 and 39th place individual finishes. Also rounding out the top five was junior Jeff Paustain (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) who shot an 80 and Grant Murphy (Dunlap HS, Peoria, Ill.) who shot an 83.
Also shooting well for the Blue and Gold was freshman Max Channon (Wheaton Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.) who shot an 80 and sophomore John Stone (Rockridge HS, Reynolds, Ill.) and freshman Steven Beisswenger (Seneca HS, Seneca, Ill.) who both shot an 83.
The Vikings return to action on September 22nd when they take part in the Vike/Scott/Fire Cup in Monmouth, Illinois.
