2011-12 Season - Vikings third at Monmouth Invitational

MONMOUTH, Ill.-Junior Morgan Wilkinson (Westmont HS, Westmont, Ill.) and sophomore Kelly Farina (Normal West HS, Bloomington, Ill.) each shot an 88 Saturday to help Augustana to a third-place team finish at the Monmouth Invitational. The Viking pair finished tied for sixth individually.
Millikin got a round of 71 from individual winner Brittany Holmes to take the team title with a total of 353 strokes. Edgewood shot a 360 to finish one stroke ahead of Augustana in second place. Wheaton and Clarke finished in a tie for fourth at 363. The host school shot a 364 for sixth, followed by Robert Morris (370) in seventh, Illinois College (401) in eighth, a second Augustana outfit (418) in ninth and Knox, which finished 10th with a 444.
Augustana senior Brittany Carr (Lincoln-Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.) shot a 90 to tie for 13th place. Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.), with a 95, and Dena Capitani (Hinsdale Central HS Hinsdale, Ill.), with a 97, rounded out the first Augustana unit.
Next weekend, coach Ron Standley's Vikings will be competing in the Benedictine Invitational, a two-day event held at St. Andrew's in West Chicago, Illinois.
