Augustana adds lacrosse as 11th women's sport

Augustana College will add women's lacrosse to the Vikings' varsity roster. Play will begin in 2010-11 school year. Lacrosse will become the 11th women's varsity sport, joining volleyball, soccer, cross country, tennis, golf, basketball, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, softball and swimming.

Trio named to academic all-district football team

Three Augustana College football players were named to the ESPN - The Magazine academic all-district team, it was announced today. Senior offensive tackle Blaine Westemeyer was a first team selection while senior linebacker Eric Meyer and junior running back Robert Wood were both named to the second team. The voting was done by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Westemeyer, Meyer and Wood were selected in District Five, which takes in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Vikings 11th in latest NCAA Poll

After a second place finish at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin meet on Saturday, October 31 in Elmhurst, Illinois the Vikings lost only to top ranked North Central College. The Vikings of veteran head coach Paul Olsen went from 10 th to 11 th in the weekly rankings, which were released today by the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.

Top 10 in two polls heading into CCIW title match

Augustana will head into the championship match of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin on Saturday night against Illinois Wesleyan ranked in the top 10 in the nation in two separate polls. The Vikings of head coach Scott Mejia, currently 17-1-1 overall, are ranked sixth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll and eighth n the D3soccer.com list.

Women advance with 5-0 win over Millikin

Establishing control early in the contest, the Augustana women's soccer team cruised to a 5-0 win over Millikin in a CCIW tournament semifinal match at Ericson Field Wednesday night. The win moves the Vikings to 17-1-1 on the year and into the tournament championship at 7:00 Saturday, November 7, also at Ericson Field.
