Regular season ends at Augie Twilight

Six different individuals won events at the final regular season track meet of the 2012 season for the Augustana women's track & field team. The Vikings competed in the Augie Twilight Qualifier on Friday, May 18 at Paul V. Olsen Track in an event that did not include team scores.

Nine event winners at Augie Twilight

In the final tune-up prior to the NCAA Division III national meet at Claremont-Harvey-Mudd-Scripps College, the Augustana men put on quite a show at the Augie Twilight Qualifier on Friday, May 18 at Paul V. Olsen Track. The Vikings won a total of nine events and were especially impressive in winning both relays.

Kargl named IWLCA 2nd team All-Region

Augustana freshman attacker Hilary Kargl has been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Division III All-West Region second team. Kargl was the leading scorer this year for a Viking program which finished its first varsity season with a 15-3 record and led the nation with an average of 19.22 goals per game.

Bayles and DeSimone share MVP honors

Senior Adam DeSimone and sophomore Kevin Bayles shared the John R. Olson Most Valuable Player Award for the 2012 Augustana men’s tennis team. DeSimone and Bayles were major factors as Jon Miedema completed his first year as the Vikings’ head coach with a 16-11 overall record.

Viking seniors collect team awards

Augustana baseball coach Greg Wallace has announced his team award winners for the 2012 season and the list is dominated by this year's senior class. Mike Barker was named Outstanding Offensive Player. Kevin Serna was selected as Outstanding Defensive Player and Mike Trotta and Josiah Martin shared Outstanding Pitcher honors. Anthony Concialdi won the team's Leadership Award while Martin also garnered the "Commitment to Excellence" Award.

Women's tennis award winners announced

Sophomore Kim Sawyer won the Most Valuable Player award for the Augustana women’s tennis team for the 2011-12 season. Sawyer put together a tremendous sophomore season, compiling a 27-7 record while competing at the number one singles position. Senior Brittany Reece and freshman Miranda Pence shared the "Hardest Worker" award.

Sarah Hintz named Viking softball MVP

Sophomore right-hander Sarah Hintz has been named Most Valuable Player for the 2012 Augustana softball team. A pair of sophomores, shortstop Krista Watson and first baseman Courtney Ledezma, shared Best Offensive Player honors and senior center fielder Jillian Gibbs claimed the Best Defensive Player Award.

Five Augustana baseball players, including CCIW Co-Pitcher of the Year Mike Trotta, have been named to the all-conference first team. In addition, two Vikings earned second team honors.
