2011 Season - Christensen earns All-American honor

Junior Phil Christensen placed sixth in the NCAA Division III national meet in the discus. It was the third All-American certificate of his career.

DELAWARE, Ohio - Augustana junior Phil Christensen (Kaneland HS, Maple Park, Ill.) earned the third All-American certificate of his career at the NCAA Division III national track & field championships, which were held on May 26-28 at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. Christensen placed sixth in the discus throw with a toss of 162’ 11”. He was sixth in the event as a freshman in 2009 and third in 2010 as a sophomore.

Senior Patrick Zeunik (Bloomington Central Catholic HS, Bloomington, Ill.) finished ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 48’ 8”, just missing All-American honors. Zeunik had been an All-American in his three previous NCAA appearances and was second in the triple jump during the indoor championships.

Sophomore Alex Rindone (Marmion Academy, Geneva, Ill.) placed 11th in the 200 with a time of :21.91 and was 14th in the 100 in :10.91. He was also on the 400 relay team which dropped the baton and did not finish and the 1600 relay that placed 16th with a time of 3:19.90. Joining him on the 400 relay team was freshman Jay Graffagna (Geneva HS, LaFox, Ill.), sophomore Greg Patton (Bloomington HS, Bloomington, Ill.), and senior James Wood (St. Charles North HS, St. Charles, Ill.). The 1600 relay had sophomore Daniel Doubet (Galesburg HS, Galesburg, Ill.), Rindone, Wood and Patton. Patton was 11th in the 400 with a time of :48.43.

Freshman Nick Sinon (Kaneland HS, Elburn, Ill.) was 13th in the high jump with a clearance of 6’ 5” and senior Alex Stake (Williamsville HS, Sherman, Ill.) took 15th in the decathlon with a score of 6,141 points. Junior Adam Myers (Dixon HS, Dixon, Ill.) finished 18th in the hammer throw with a toss of 172' 8".
