Information about parking permits
Augustana College students who live in residence halls and Transitional Living Areas (TLAs) must buy a parking permit to park in a lot, driveway or space designated for that residence.
Permits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Returning students may buy permits first. A lottery is used to provide the remaining permits to first-year and transfer students.
Purchasing a permit
All students will receive a parking packet in the mail at their home address. This packet includes the vehicle registration form needed to buy a permit. The completed form and payment must be returned to the Facilities Services Office either by mail or in person.
You may pick up your decal starting Monday, August 14, 2012. If you did not receive a decal, Facilities will contact you by phone to inform you.
While not all students will be able to buy a parking permit, everyone with a vehicle needs to register it with the college. Vehicle registration decals will be provided free to students.
Returning students: Parking permit sales begin June 1, 2012, for all returning sophomores, juniors, and seniors. (Students on foreign term who have designated housing also may purchase decals at this time.)
ATTENTION RETURNING STUDENTS: All parking fines from 2011-2012 must be resolved before you are eligible to purchase a parking decal for the 2012-2013. If you have any questions about your parking fines, please contact Chief Tom Phillis, ext. 7279 or email@example.com.
First-year and transfer students: A drawing will be held August 8th for first-year and transfer students who wish to purchase a decal for any remaining spaces. To be a part of this drawing, students must mail or bring the vehicle registration form and payment to the Facilities Services Office before August 8th. Registrations received without the fee will not be part of the lottery.
Students on foreign term: Students on foreign term who have designated housing may purchase decals June 1. However, students who will be gone during fall term may not buy a term decal for the winter term prior to the start of the winter term. Term decals are only sold at the start of each term. Foreign term students may only purchase a decal if they have been assigned housing. Students who do not have designated housing will have to wait until they receive their housing assignment.
Term decals for the winter and spring terms will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis if parking spaces are still available. Foreign term students also will be given the option to purchase a full academic year decal to ensure that they will have a parking spot when returning to campus for the winter/spring terms.
Commuter students: Commuter students may purchase either a full academic year decal or a term decal" any time.
Cost and payment
Payment must be included at time of purchase. Make check payable to Augustana College and include the student's name and ID number in the memo area. Students will be charged $20 for a returned check and the decal will be made invalid. Please return both copies of the vehicle registration form.
All receipts will be sent electronically via email to each student's Augustana email address. No paper receipts will be provided: Please save your receipt.
Full academic year decal: $200
Lot S (Remote): $100 - limited amount of spaces
Lot S has a limited amount of spaces for students seeking a parking spot. These parking spots are not as convienct as the parking lots directly outside of residence areas. (located on 30th Street, next to Ostara House)
Term decal: $75 per term
The term decal is ideal for students who may only be taking classes for one or two terms out of the academic year, students who will only be here one or two terms, and students who will only have a car on campus for one or two terms out of the academic year.
Students may not purchase decals for two terms at once. Term decals are sold at the start of each term on a first-come, first-served basis if spaces are available. Students are given a chance to re-purchase their term decal during finals week each term.
Each student will need to fill out the vehicle registration form (included in parking packet) and mail it or drop it off at the Facilities Services Office (Sorensen Hall basement). Leave both copies of the form attached and mail them back together.
If you come in to the office to fill out the form, please be sure to have the following information with you:
- Name of student (ID number, residence hall or TLA house name or commuter address, and phone number)
- Vehicle owner (name, address, phone)
- Vehicle information (make, model, color, year, license plate number)
Students who obtain a decal and do not have complete information on their vehicle registration form will have their decal held in the Facilities Service Office until the information is completed.
