Music & Literature Learning Community in Paris (Summer 2014)

This five-week program in Paris studies the birthplace of the avant-garde in music and literature. The program pairs a literature course focused on expatriate American writers in Paris (Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Stein, Hughes) with a course on the music of early 20th century (Debussy, Satie, Stravinsky). Students will visit the cafes, book-stores, and salons where the expatriates worked and congregated, and hear the music, read the literature, and see the art that inspired their artistic experiments. One of Europe's most important artistic, political, religious, educational and commercial center, Paris abounds in history and culture and promises a dynamic and enriching experience for Augustana students.
This is a six-credit learning community offering PA and PL credits.

Not included: Airfare, Food, Discretionary spending
Courses included: Music 301: Early Twentieth-Century Music in Paris (PA), English 315: American Writers in Paris (PL) Students earn 6 credits and LC credit.

This program is open only to full-time Augustana students. Funds from Augie Choice are available for this program to any student with Junior status (60 credits or more) at the time of the program departure.
