2011 Season - Jenna Nelson named NFCA All-Region

Augustana sophomore Jenna Nelson has been named first team All-Great Lakes Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Augustana sophomore Jenna Nelson (Orion HS, Orion, Ill.) has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Great Lakes Region team. She was a first team selection at the designated player spot.

Nelson made a big impact in her first season in coach Kris Kistler's program, leading the Viking regulars in hitting at .378 and on-base percentage at .425, tying for second on the club with three home runs and ranking third with 22 runs batted in. She was among the team leaders in nearly every other offensive category as well. She was second in doubles and walks with eight each and ranked third in hits (tied with 37), total bases (54) and slugging percentage (.551).

Nelson, who saw time at catcher, third base and in the outfield this season, had 10 multi-hit games and saved her best for last, going 3-for-3 with a homer and five RBI in the season finale against Knox. With Nelson's selection, the Vikings have now had at least one player receive NFCA All-Region recognition in each of Kistler's 12 seasons at Augustana.
