2011 Season - Viking women 5th in CCIW

Hannah Hottle set meet records at 800 and 1500 meters Saturday and was named Track Athlete of the Meet at the CCIW Championships.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill.-Augustana's Hannah Hottle (Monmouth Roseville HS, Monmouth, Ill.) set meet records in the 800 and 1500 Saturday and ran a leg on the Vikings' second-place 4x400 relay, earning Track Athlete of the Meet at the CCIW Championships at Ericson Field. Hottle's performance helped the Vikings take fifth place as a team.

  Hottle bettered the provisional qualifying standards and set CCIW meet records in winning both the 800 (2:12.07) and 1500 (4:36.21). Meaghan Reaney (Lincoln-Way Central HS, New Lenox, Ill.) was seventh in both events, running a 2:19.84 at 800 meters and 4:49.80 in the 1500. Sarahbeth Jones (Warren Township HS, Wadsworth, Ill.) was sixth in the 800, running a 2:18.41.

 Ella Mathieson (Lyons Township HS, LaGrange, Ill.) added a triple jump championship to her long jump title from Friday. She went 37' 6", bettering the provisional qualifying mark.

 Brittney Bennett (Annawan HS, Annawan, Ill.) was second in the 400 with a provisional qualifying :56.65 and fifth in the 200, running a :25.74. Kierra Smith (Creston HS, Creston, Iowa) and Amy Walsh (Cary-Grove HS, Cary, Ill.) each scored in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Smith was third (:15.59) and Walsh sixth (:15.71) in the 100 hurdles and in the 400 hurdles, Walsh finished fourth (1:04.44) and Smith fifth (1:06.14).

 Johanna Schnitzler (Downers Grove South HS, Woodridge, Ill.) was fifth in the heptathlon with 3,637 points and the Viking relay teams finished second in the 4x400 (3:56.35) and fifth in the 4x100 (:50.19).

 North Central won the team championship with 223 points, followed by Carthage (126.5), Illinois Wesleyan (120) and Wheaton (110). Augustana was fifth with 104.5 points, followed by Millikin (83), Elmhurst (nine) and North Park (four).
