Linda Newborn '73
Linda Newborn joined Deere & Company 32 years ago, right after graduating from Augustana. She first worked in accounting, then marketing, then human resources. Making the move to chief compliance officer in 2004 represented a major change. "I went from knowing just about everything there was to know about my job to what's been one of the greatest learning-curves I've had in my professional life," says Newborn. "But the time had come when I was beginning to feel too comfortable about where I was."
As chief compliance officer, her job is to ensure that her company-with its more than 40,000 employees-conducts its business legally, ethically, and with a strong sense of corporate social responsibility.
