Special Collections Faculty Allowance Application Information
Interested faculty are encouraged to contact Sarah Horowitz, Special Collections Librarian, for further information or to discuss possible applications.
One $600 PDF credit is available.
The process is open to any currently employed member of the Augustana faculty including tenured, untenured, full-time, part-time, and visiting faculty.
Please submit applications to Sarah Horowitz by March 29, 2013. Successful applicants will be notified by April 19th.
We assume that the bulk of this research in the Special Collections Department and the enhanced level of access to the collections and staff will occur during the summer and will last around 5 days.
Applicants should write a brief statement (no more than 2 pages). Each statement should include:
- an outline of the materials the applicant is interested in investigating
- a description of the course into which these materials might be integrated, and how teaching and learning might be improved with the use of these materials, OR
- the research project these materials might inform, and how the applicant intends to disseminate that research
- proposed dates and length of time that the applicant expects to spend in Special Collections
Applications will be evaluated on the basis of their potential contributions to student learning, as well as availability and scheduling of research time.
The Special Collections Librarian, the Director of the Library, and the Dean of the College will review all applications.
