2011 Season - Mathieson places in three events at Loras

Senior Ella Mathieson (Lyons Township HS, LaGrange, Ill.) placed in three events to lead the Augustana effort at the Loras Open in Dubuque, Iowa on Saturday, April 30. A large contingent of Vikings went to the Drake Relays but a small contingent performed in the non-scoring meet hosted by the Duhawks.
Mathieson was tremendous, taking third in the long jump with a leap of 17’ 2 ¾” and third in the triple jump with a mark of 35’ 7 ¾”. She was also third in the pole vault with a clearance of 9’ 8”. Sophomore Theresa Coverick (Stagg HS, Palos Park, Ill.) was third in the 1500 and senior Hannah Orem was fourth in 5:01.80. Orem was also fifth in the 800 in 2:30.09. Sophomore Jordan Mauerman (Albany HS, Albany, Wis.) placed third in the javelin with a toss of 98’ 9”. The 400 relay team was fourth in :54.61.
