2011 Season - Vikings move to 13th in NCAA baseball
![]() |
| Jared McIntosh fires a pitch in a 3-1 victory over Carthage on Sunday, April 17th. McIntosh and the Vikings have moved into 13th in the latest NCAA Division III baseball poll. |
Following a series win against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) conference leader Carthage (#16), veteran skipper Greg Wallace's Augustana Vikings have moved up two spots in the latest D3baseball.com national Top 25 rankings. Augustana moved to an overall record of 19-6 in the past week, with an 8-4 mark in CCIW play.
Augustana tallied 337 points in the latest poll, garnering 87 more points than last week. Christopher Newport jumped three spots to claim the top spot in the poll with 625 points. Carthage is the only other CCIW team in the top 25, checking in at number 16. Illinois Wesleyan dropped from the polls after being ranked 23rd in last week's edition.
The Vikings swept the first two games of the Carthage series in a double header last Sunday. Spurred by tremendous pitching performances from Jared McIntosh and John Peters, the Vikings won 3-1 in the day game and scratched out a win in the nightcap 8-7. Carthage prevented the sweep on Monday, however, with a commanding 13-0 victory. The Vikings play next on Wednesday, April 20th against non-conference opponent Loras.
