2011 Season - Vikings now 15th in D3baseball.com poll

After splitting a pair of games with Illinois Wesleyan, a two to one series win against Elmhurst, and a shutout victory against Monmouth, the Augustana Vikings have moved their record to 17-4 overall. The Vikings stay in the top 15 in the NCAA Division III national poll, conducted by D3baseball.com. They dropped one spot from 14 th to 15 th.
Augustana tallied 250 points in the poll, which has Shenandoah (27-2) in the top spot with 622 points and 22 first place votes. Two other teams from the CCIW are also in the top 25 with Carthage (14-4) sitting one spot ahead of the Vikings in 15 th with 264 points and Illinois Wesleyan (13-6) in 23 rd with 87 points.
The Vikings split a pair of games with Illinois Wesleyan losing the first game by a score of 18-13 and wining the second game 9-6. The Vikings took the momentum from the second game win into the next series against Elmhurst. Augustana won the first two games of the series by scores of 3-2 and 8-5 before losing at Elmhurst by a score of 16-15. The Vikings righted the ship with a shutout victory over Monmouth by a score of 3-0. Augustana will travel to Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 13 for a single game scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. The Vikings will then host Carthage for a three game series on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17. The Saturday date will be a double header and the Sunday date will be a single nine inning contest.
