2011 Season - Baseball team moves to 14th in NCAA ranking

The Augustana Vikings are currently 13-2 overall and ranked 14th in NCAA Division III.

A three game sweep of Wheaton to open the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin baseball season, the Augustana Vikings have moved their record to 13-2 overall. They also moved up one notch in the NCAA Division III national baseball poll, according to D3baseball.com.

Augustana garnered 281 points in the poll, which has Shenandoah (22-2) in the top spot with 614 points and 17 first place votes. Two other teams from the CCIW are also in the top 25 with Carthage (11-3) sitting in 16 th with 238 points and Illinois Wesleyan (10-4) in 21 st with 117 points.

The Vikings beat Wheaton by scores of 15-5, 6-5 and 16-1 over the weekend. The only losses for the Vikings so far have come against Wartburg by a score of 2-0 on February 28 in Auburndale, Florida and 7-4 at home to Aurora on March 27.

Augustana will host Illinois Wesleyan in a double header on Tuesday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Swanson Stadium/Brunner Field and then will play a three game series with Elmhurst on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10. The Saturday date will be a double header at home and the Sunday date will be a single nine inning contest.
