Volume 8, Issue 23 - March 21, 2011This Week's Message
During the Friday Conversation this week Mark Salisbury (Institutional Research & Assessment) Amanda Baugous and Lisa Allen (Student Rating Supervisory Committee) will lead a discussion on
Interpreting the IDEA SRI.
While all members of our community are welcome, this session is designed primarily for those who have administered the new SRI and want to make the most of the four-page feedback they've gotten back from the IDEA Center. Of course, those who will be administering the form for the first time this spring and who want to learn from other's experiences will also benefit!
This is the third in a series of training sessions that we have offered and would be glad to offer again, upon request. The first two being
- Preparing for the IDEA SRI This session has (and will continue to be) been offered a number of times and is most effective when part of a departmental conversation. We discuss the context in which we would like people (individuals and departments/programs) to view the new instrument. We also focus on the Faculty Information Form (FIF) which needs to be considered before the start of the term and, ideally, incorporated into the syllabus for full effect.
- Navigating the IDEA Center Website This session was presented at the most recent Friday Conversation and is designed (as the name implies) to help guide individuals to the most important among the massive number of resources available at the Idea Center's site. We point out resources the Center offers that are helpful for both using the instrument but also for course design generally. [You recently received an email with a list of relevant sites and the handout; please contact me if you need another copy.]
Again, we would be glad to offer any of these sessions to interested parties. Of course, we are planning on offering training during next year's retreat as we prepare for the campus-wide norming of the instrument during the 2011-12 academic year.
We hope to see you at this Friday's Conversation. Have a productive week three!
