Student Employment
What is student employment?
Student employment provides an opportunity to work on campus, earn money, and learn valuable skills that can be applied after completing college. Students are paid every two weeks through the Payroll Office located in the Business Office in Sorensen Hall. Most student positions at Augustana are for a maximum of 8-9 hours per week, and pay minimum wage ($7.50/hr).
What forms are required before I can begin work?
W4 and I-9 forms must be on file in the Payroll Office before a student can begin working. To complete these forms, the following documents are required:
A picture ID and original Social Security Card OR Birth Certificate (original or certified copy)
A United States passport may be substituted for all of the items noted above. These documents are completed during the summer registration sessions.
How do I find out what jobs are available?
Students are not assigned jobs; rather, available positions are posted on Augustana's Campus Net. Once on campus, students will have access to view job openings. Upon finding position(s) of interest, students apply with the employing department.
What does eligible for Federal Work-Study (FWS) mean?
The Federal Work-Study Program assists students with demonstrated financial need and provies an opportunity to earn money to help pay for education expenses. Those eligible to participate in the FWS program will receive a financial aid award notification indicating potential earning potential. Students who work may arrange with the Business Office to have their earnings applied directly to their bill. However, most students opt to receive the funds directly for books and personal expenses. Individuals with FWS eligibility may receive employment preference over others unless certain skills are required.
