Comparative Advantage Alumni Study 2000
This study, commissioned by Augustana and conducted by Hardwick-Day, was designed to assess how alumni evaluated their undergraduate experiences, the effectiveness of college in developing career and life skills, their post-graduate community involvement, the effect of college on personal values, and their perception of the value of their education vs. the cost. The results compare the responses of Augustana alumni with those from the other 27 Lutheran (ELCA) affiliated colleges, a group of selective private colleges and universities, several flagship public universities in the midwest region and the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) in particular.
Compared to flagship public universities, alumni from Augustana and the other Lutheran colleges generally reported significantly higher levels of interaction with faculty, participation in co- and extra-curricular activities, stronger relationships with their fellow students, more opportunities for spiritual and values development, stronger academic skills growth, better career preparation and higher satisfaction with the overall quality of their education.
