What you need to know to access our network
Your laptop will need to be wireless-ready - all new laptops are.
Then you will need to locate a WiFi hotspot (see the list above for on campus locations). A hotspot provides access to the school's network. As many as 50 devices can access a hotspot from a distance up to 100 feet.
The first time you connect to Augustana's wireless network, you will need to register your computer by filling out basic information and entering your Augustana login and password. Then you will need to reboot. If you have family visiting Augustana, there is a provision for guest access. On most computers you may have to click the icon for your wireless card on your screen. Click the Search button and a list of hotspots will show up; just double click on the one you wish to connect to. Our network id is augustana (except in Westerlin, Erickson and Olin for information for those three buildings, click here).

Which wireless network should I be connecting to?
Where and when to get help from ITS | Which network should I connect to | How do I connect?
AugieWiFi(Secured)
- This is the preferred method for wireless connectivity, as it is encrypted and secured with Augustana network authentication.
- It should prompt you for username and password at log on and you should use your Augustana Network username (i.e Moodle/Arches) and password to login.
- Your device must be registered via our network registration system before it will be allowed on the network.
Note: If your device has been working fine on our wireless networks before the wireless rollout, it should already be registered. If you are having trouble connecting your device, please stop by Olin during normal work hours (8:00 AM- 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday) to ask a staff member to help you, or find a staff member in your dorms during times listed above.
AugieWiFi
- This network is an unencrypted, open system for devices that cannot connect via AugieWiFi(Secured) such as possible smart phones, tablets, game consoles etc.
- Like the secured network, this network also still requires any device connected to it to be registered via our network registration system before it will be allowed on the network.
ACGuestNet
- This network is for Augustana College guests, family, friends etc. that may visit.
- This network is an open system with internet access only, with no access to our internal network resources.
- Once connected to ACGuestNet, it will ask them to login with their email address once a web browser is opened.
- Users will then have 1 day of internet access before the system will then require them to re-login with their email address every 24 hours for continued internet access.
