2010-11 Season - Vikings still third in NCAA poll

Augustana stayed in third place in the weekly NCAA Division III national men’s basketball poll conducted by D3hoops.com. The Vikings, now 19-0 on the season after victories at home against Illinois Wesleyan (69-67 on January 26) and at Elmhurst (73-49 on January 29), garnered 573 points this week.
Last week Augustana had 553 points and one first place vote but this time around the Vikings jumped 20 points in their total and have added another first place vote. Wooster stayed in first place with a 19-0 record and 620 points with 20 first place votes. Whitworth is currently second with 589 points and a 19-0 record. The Pirates have 589 points and three first place votes.
There are just four teams left in NCAA Division III that are still undefeated. Besides Wooster, Whitworth and Augustana, the other team with an unblemished record is Amherst at 18-0.
Augustana is scheduled to play North Park at home on Wednesday, February 2 as the nightcap of a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin doubleheader. The Augustana and North Park women will play a 6:00 p.m. game before the men’s game. The Vikings will host Carthage on Saturday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m.
A fixture in the national polls since Giovanine became head coach prior to 1999-00, the Vikings have now been ranked in the top 25 of the D3hoops.com poll for 81 weeks (out of a possible 170) since the website began doing the ranking.
