2005-06 WOMEN”S SWIMMING REVIEW
Ramsey Vens wins two individual titles in CCIW championship and finishes 21st in 100 backstroke at NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships; She also sets two school records in freshman campaign; Six other Vikings crack all-time top ten lists; Team finishes fourth at CCIW Championship meet for second consecutive season
Ramsey Vens (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) capped off a stellar freshman campaign under second year Augustana head coach Jake Anderson by finishing 21st in the 100 backstroke on Friday, March 10 at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Vens finished with a time of 0:59.80.

The 2005-06 women’s team also put a huge dent in the top 10 lists as seven swimmers raced their way into this elite group in at least one race. Vens not only holds the school record in the 100 (0:59.34) and 200 backstroke (2:09.71), but also had the third best time in both the 200 (2:15.03) and 400 individual medley races (4:59.59). She also had the 10th best time in the 1000 freestyle (11:39.85). Chao had the second best time in the 50 freestyle (0:24.51). Dougherty swam to the fourth best time in the 100 backstroke (1:02.26) and the seventh best time in the 100 butterfly (1:03.02).
Hineman and Leafblad both found their way into the top ten in two different events as Hineman had the fourth best time in the 400 individual medley (5:00.46) and was 10th in the 500 freestyle (5:31.48) with Leafblad holding the ninth best time in both the 200 (2:21.41) and 400 individual medley (5:02.61). Grendzinski also cracked the top ten with a 2:37.73 in the 200 breaststroke, fast enough for eighth best all time.
The Vikings were 3-3 on the season in dual meets. Augustana had team wins over Knox (85-56), Monmouth (114.5-81.5), and
