The Vikings lost a close dual meet to Coe on January 8 in the first meet after Christmas, placed fourth in the Grinnell Invitational on January 15, defeated Monmouth on January 24 and lost to Grinnell on January 29. At the CCIW meet Augustana more than doubled its point total from a year earlier with 166 with the top finish coming in the 200 freestyle relay where the team of Munson, Butz, Jannusch and Gehl placed third with a time of 1:31.98. With 166 points the Vikings ended up fifth in the eight team league. Individually Gehl had the best finish of the weekend with a sixth in the 100 butterfly with a time of :52.83.Goebel was seventh in the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.30 while Butz had a pair of eighth place finishes in the 500 freestyle (4:57.22) and the 1650 freestyle (17:23.87).
Although no school records were set the Vikings made a pretty good dent in the all-time top ten times list, making 11 additions by the time the season was over. Butz made it on the top ten list in four different events. He climbed all the way to third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:37.48, third in the 1650 freestyle in 17:23.87, fourth in the 500 freestyle in 4:53.02 and fifth in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.11. Goebel recorded the second fastest time in Augustana history in the 200 breaststroke with a clocking of 2:13.30 and the fourth best in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.55. Gehl had the third best time in the 100 butterfly (:52.83) and the 200 individual medley (2:00.79) and the fifth fastest in the 100 freestyle (:48.62). Munson clocked a time of :48.91 in the 100 freestyle, which puts him sixth on the all-time list while his :54.30 in the 100 butterfly is seventh and he ended up 10th on the 50 freestyle in :22.34.
