Career Development
For those faculty members looking for assistance with helping students select a potential career path please direct them to the Career Development Office. We can help them learn of various career options, uncover employment opportunities, build resumes, cover letters, and personal statements, and find internships. We are located on the 1st Floor of Sorensen Hall and operate under normal business hours. Please contact our offices at your earliest convenience to learn more.
Internships: Spring & Summer
As you prepare for your advisement sessions, please consider speaking with your advisees about internships for spring term and over the summer. Internships are an excellent mechanism to help students
- build an early professional experience
- discover what they do (and sometimes don't) want to do
- apply what they are learning in a "real world" setting
- begin to develop a network of people in fields that interest them.
Our Internship Program is very flexible to accommodate a broad range of student goals and educational objectives. Internships may be full-time or part-time experiences. Students can earn between zero and nine credits for their experience. Additionally, there is Augie Choice and grant funding available to compensate students for certain internships.
Internship listings can be found at www.internships.com and www.iscpa.org. The Internships Office has worked diligently to post internships exclusive to Augustana students. These opportunities can be viewed by visiting the internships.com website and following these instructions
- Click "Sign Up For Free!" in the upper right hand corner
- Fill in the requested information and click "Sign Me Up"
- Click "Go Back"
- In the Profile Readiness box on the left side, click on "Add Your School"
- Fill in the requested information and click on "Save to Profile"
- Search for your internship!
Further, the Internships Office will work with students to create custom internships to suit a student's individual requirements.
Johnna Adam, Director of Employer Relations and Internships in the Community Engagement Center (CEC), is available to meet with students individually to guide them through the internship process. If you would prefer, Johnna is available to meet with classes and student groups as well. Appointments can be made by contacting the CEC at 309.794.7339 or e-mailing lisaslater@augustana.edu.
