This workshop is designed to help students create and develop interactive and engaging social groups on campus. Students will learn how to work with their peers and keep them motivated by incorporating goal setting, delegation, and how to recognize group and personal achievements.

The Office of Student Activities would like to welcome all chapter leaders integrally involved with the recruitment process to take part in a workshop dedicated to creating a recruitment plan for their chapter. At this workshop chapter leaders will be given tools and ideas on how to better promote Greek Life as a whole on campus.

RACE OFF! (with Teja Arboleda)

Mandatory for Chapter Presidents, Vice Presidents, New Member Educators, and Risk Management Chairs
This live, multimedia and heavy musical beat-entrenched audience interaction program is based on Teja Arboleda's wildly successful national touring video: RaceOff. Arboleda challenges the audience to wipe away assumptions about racial identity and jump start a cultural revolution that will turn the word race in to a four-letter word! The main feature of RaceOff is a video which morphs between 13 faces so slowly that you can't tell the difference between them. Arboleda then takes the audience on a charged tour of the history of racial categories, the impact of race in society, and the future of identity.

New Member Education Workshop #1

The Office of Student Activities would like to welcome all chapter leaders integrally involved with the new member process to participate in a workshop to prepare them for the 2013 new member period. During this workshop the Dean of Students and the Director of Student Activities will be reviewing the Greek Life new member handbook with chapter leaders as well as offering tools to help leaders create a new member education plan for the 2013 new member period.

Hazing Awareness (with Hank Nuwer)

Author and journalist Hank Nuwer has written four books on hazing and authored numerous articles. Having been hazed as a pledge and having hazed others, Hank Nuwer intimately knows the dynamics involved in hazing. Known internationally for his writing on hazing as a social problem and his groundbreaking book Broken Pledges, Hank Nuwer has actively written about hazing for over 20 years. In addition, he has been invited to speak about hazing at numerous U.S. universities including: Cornell, Indiana, and Colorado.

Whispering Black: Code Talk for Whites (with Molly Secours)

Molly Secours examines how whitewashing racial discussions perpetuates the myth of race. With compassion and humor, Secours explores how those classified as white shy away from honest racial discussions and how we can (and should) accept responsibility for contributing to continued racial inequities without becoming defensive, resentful, and feeling blamed.

Chasing an Authentic Life (with Corey Ciocchetti)

What are you shooting for? A big, impressive career? A big paycheck? A does of fame and notoriety? Like a greyhound, endlessly running, you can spend your life chasing artificial rabbits and going around in circles. Or, you can make some decisions that will set you on a path to true happiness in your career and in your life. In this very personal leadership keynote, Corey challenges students to identify the "real rabbits" that potentially lie in their future. You can achieve amazing things in your life, but true happiness is best found by keeping things like relationships, character, and contentment in mind along the way.

The Realities of Sexual Aggression (with Steve Thompson)

Steve Thompson has devoted himself to studying the whys and hows of sexual aggression. He went into prisons to talk with offenders, he interviewed police officers, psychologist, doctors, and thousands of survivors. The information he gathered was studied, along with aspects of body movement as they apply to fighting situations. He found that martial arts, self-defense courses, and other techniques of sexual aggression avoidance generally did as much harm as they did good. This general presentation addresses aspects of sexual aggression while focusing on what can be done to create a safer environment.

Discover the Will to Survive (with Chad Crittenden)

By telling audiences his story from surgery to Survivor, Chad helps them to understand that overcoming obstacles is a normal part of life. Chad illustrates his story and outlines the tools that helped him overcome adversity, survive cancer, and excel on CBS' Survivor. While discussing the importance of utilizing our own circumstances, taking risks, and discovering new opportunities to grow, Chad relays his message and personal experiences to relate important life lessons in perseverance. His realistic optimism, confidence, and self-assuredness serve as an example to individuals from varied backgrounds. Treat yourself to this inspirational talk, as Chad shows you how to "Discover the Will to Survive".
