Lendol Calder has been named the 2010 Illinois Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Lendol was selected from more than 300 top professors in the country for the award, and he is the second Augustana professor to receive this honor since the program began in 1981. We hope you will join the College in honoring Lendol on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 4:00 PM in the College Center Board Room.
On display at the Rock Island Public Library, 2nd Floor Gallery, is an exhibit of 25 mixed media collage works rich in color and texture using the application of acrylic paint and handmade papers by Corrine Smith. The display will run November 2 - December 29, 2010.
Cyrus Zargar presented a paper at the Middle East Studies Association in San Diego on November 19, 2010. His paper, part of a panel on "Persona and Voice in Persian Poetry," was entitled "The Living Qalandar Persona: The Amalgam of Life and Art in Fakhr al-Din 'Iraqui."
