Learning Communities: Ideas for High-Impact Learning Experiences
Learning communities continue to be an important part of our AGES program. In November, 2009, the faculty senate approved "Evergreen II," which expanded our campus's initial conception of our learning community model. As a result, a variety of innovative learning communities have been developed and our students are better able to meet this unique general education requirement.
If you have considered teaching in a learning community and would like to learn more about this teaching opportunity, or if you are an experienced learning community participant and would like to learn about new ideas and share your own experiences, you are encouraged to attend Friday Conversations on November 19th at 4:00 in the Wilson Center. Several colleagues with learning community experience will participate in this discussion. Specific topics will include strategies for designing integrative experiences and assignments and integrating daily writing into learning community courses. Steve Klein, Chris Whitt, Taddy Kalas, Dave Dehnel, and Dave and Debbi Hill will be our presenters.
We hope to see you on Friday!
Alli Haskill, Chair
General Education Committee
