2010 Season - Vikings are 14th in NCAA poll

The 14th ranked Augustana men's cross country team will run this weekend at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational. The Vikings will face nine teams ranked in the top 25 of the latest NCAA Division III national poll.

A fourth place finish at the Wartburg Invitational last weekend caused the Augustana men’s cross country team to drop one spot in NCAA Division III national poll. The Vikings slid from 13 th to 14 th in the poll, which is conducted by the US Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.

Augustana will get a golden opportunity to move up this week at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational because no less than nine teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation will be in attendance. North Central and Washington, the number one and two teams in NCAA Division III, will be the headliners. Wisconsin-Stevens Point (seventh), Calvin (eighth), New York University (ninth), Wisconsin-Whitewater (10 th), Wisconsin-Oshkosh (22 nd) and Grinnell (25 th) will also be in the field.

Besides finishing fourth last week at the Wartburg Invitational, the Vikings were second at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational on Friday, September 24 at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois. They won the Western Illinois Invitational on September 3 in Macomb, Illinois and then placed fourth at the 32-team Illinois Intercollegiate Championships on September 17 in Normal, Illinois.

After garnering 178 points a week ago in the national poll, Augustana had 170 this week.
