2010-11 Season - Vikings drop to seventh at CCIW

Megan Vandersee shot a team-best 87 Saturday, but it wasn't enough to keep the Vikings from falling to seventh place at the CCIW tournament in Wheaton, Illinois.

WHEATON, Ill. - The Augustana women's golf team had rough round on day three at the CCIW tournament Saturday at Cantigney Golf Course in Wheaton, Illinois. The Vikings shot a collective 361 to finish seventh at the three-day event (346-366-361--1073), one stroke behind sixth-place Elmhurst (368-352-352--1072). Illinois Wesleyan was the conference champion (326-318-321--965).

 Sophomore Morgan Wilkinson's (Westmont HS, Westmont, Ill.) 20th-place finish (86-87-93--266) was Augustana's highest. Sophomore Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) (86-94-87--267) had the Vikings' best individual round on Saturday with an 87. She ended up tied with junior teammate Brittany Carr (Lincoln-Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.) (85-93-89--267) for 22nd place overall.

 Freshman Kelly Farina (Normal West HS, Bloomington, Ill.) finished 30th (89-92-92--273). Another freshman, Jamie Lawrence (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) was tied for 33rd (94-96-93--283) and senior Jessica Berens (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) finished in a tie for 40th (96-99-95--290).

 The rest of the team standings had North Central (334-331-325--990) in second, Wheaton (338-332-322--992) in third, Millikin (338-345-345--1028) in fourth and Carthage (354-347-349--1050) in fifth.
