2010-11 Season - Vikings slide down a spot in CCIW Tourney

Morgan Wilkinson had the best individual round for the Vikings on the second day of the CCIW tournament, carding an 87.

Augustana fell one spot Friday, from fifth to sixth, in second-round play at the CCIW women's golf tournament at Cantigny Golf Course in Wheaton, Illinois. Sophomore Morgan Wilkinson (Westmont HS, Westmont, Ill.) carded the Vikings’ best individual round of the day, shooting a 15-over-par 87. The tournament wraps up with third round play on Saturday.

Augustana opened the second round with an eight stroke lead over Carthage, but the Lady Reds posted a collective score of 347 on Friday to pass the Vikings, who shot a 366. Illinois Wesleyan (326-318—644) will head into the final round with a 21-stroke lead over second-place North Central (334-331—665). Wheaton (338-332—670) and Millikin (338-345—683) hold down spots three and four, followed by Carthage (354-347—701) and Augustana (346-366—712). Elmhurst, with a two-round total of 720 (368-352) sits in seventh place.

Wilkinson’s 87 on Friday gives her a 173 after two rounds, good for a tie for 15th place. Junior Brittany Carr, who had the Vikings’ best round on Thursday with an 85, is in 23rd place with a 178. Augustana sophomore Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) (86-94—180) is tied for 25th and freshman Kelly Farina (Normal West HS, Bloomington, Ill.) (89-92—181) is tied for 27th. Freshman Jamie Lawrence (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) (94-96—190) sits in 34th place while senior Jessica Berens (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) (96-99—195) is 38th.
