2010 Season - Webster tops men's soccer in double overtime

John McSpadden tallied the first goal of his Augustana career in the Vikings 2-1 double overtime loss to Webster on Sunday, September 12.

Webster defeated Augustana 2-1 in non-conference men’s soccer action on Sunday, September 12 in Fenton, Missouri. Carlos Espinoza scored with five minutes left in the second overtime to give the Gorloks the victory.

Webster took a 1-0 lead in the game’s 63rd minute when Clint Carder scored his fourth goal of the season with Zack Papes getting the assist. Augustana tied the contest with just three minutes left in overtime when John McSpadden (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) tallied an unassisted goal, his first of the campaign. After a scoreless first extra session, Espinoza tallied the game winner.

Augustana enjoyed a 25-13 edge in shots attempted and an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.

The Vikings are now 0-4-1 while Webster moved to 3-2-1.
