William Berg, a former pastor of Augustana Lutheran Church in downtown Minneapolis, Minn., delivered the Sunday morning sermon on May 23 at his old church in celebration of his 100th birthday. He is writing his eighth book and setting up speaking engagements.

1949

Lois Tollefson Larson married Ben McAdams on August 8, 2009. She retired last year from Logan School, Moline, Ill.

1952

Janis Schrage Benson’s book, From Sweden to Mallorca, has been published by Xlibris. It tells of her family’s five-month sailing journey through European canals.

1956

David Fleming was voted Southern California Leader of the Year by the Southern California Leadership Network.

1966

Mary Atkinson Lloyd retired as director of Bethany Early Childhood Center at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cherry Hills Village, Colo.

1968

Jack Ekstrom was appointed vice president, corporate and government relations, at Whiting Petroleum Corp., Denver, Colo.

Barry Stoughton received the distinguished service in leadership award from the American Cancer Society Northwest Suburban Region for outstanding contributions in the fight against cancer.

1970

Elizabeth LaGrande married Daniel Francis O’Leary on July 18, 2009.

1971

David Beckstrom is interim pastor at Chatfield (Minn.) Lutheran Church.

David Edwards is senior internal auditor for Rocky Mountain Health Plan.

Sylvia Smith Khaton has retired from the University of Colorado, Boulder after 20 years of service. She received the 2009 chancellor’s employee of the year award.

Ron May was music director for the world premiere of Whodunit? The Musical at Circa 21 dinner theater in Rock Island.

Susan Sander is landscape director for Hill Country Concepts, Kerrville, Texas.

1975

Dan Ebener’s book, Servant Leadership Models for Your Parish, was published by Paulist Press.

1976

Karla Close is a massage therapist at Massage Envy, South Elgin, Ill.

Dennis Kelly serves as pastor of Lutheran Church of the Ascension, Northfield, Ill.

1977

Tim Marquardt is controller for Arizona State Credit Union, Phoenix.

1979

Kathleen Dempsey Boyle is an attorney in the real estate legal department of Bridgestone Retail Operations, Bloomingdale, Ill.

Patrick Long is regional wastewater facilities manager for the City of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Paul Obrock was awarded fellowship in the American College of Dentists.

Joyce Lindahl Elliott illustrated the book, I Was Born on 9/11, written by Cindy Rodriguez and published by PublishAmerica.

Nickolas Haydock has two books recently published by McFarland; Movie Medievalism: The Imaginary Middle Ages and Hollywood in the Holy Land.

Tom Wilkens is managing director for RSM McGladrey, Charlotte, N.C.

1981

John W. Anderson’s book How to Work with a Dragon: Using Chinese Astrology to Survive in the Corporate Jungle was published by GraciLu Books.

Mark Wilson was promoted to associate professor of theatre at Saint Louis (Mo.) University. He received the 2009 Kevin Kline Award for outstanding scenic design for his designs for Secret Order, a play produced by the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis.

Kim Nelson is vice president-operations for Cabrera Services, Baltimore, Md.

Ann McGovern Pedersen is senior FERC reporting analyst at BP, Lisle, Ill. She also serves as public relations director for the Institute of Management Accountants/Fox Valley Chapter.

John Tofano is senior vice president of Mount Prospect (Ill.) State Bank.

Penny Foy is an accountant at Gallagher, Millage & Gallagher, Davenport, Iowa.

George Tamvakis, a Chicago attorney, was admitted and sworn in as a member of the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court, Washington, D.C.

Walter Verdooren is executive director of development for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

1984

Mary Waggener Hawks is a registered nurse working for Knox County Schools, Knoxville, Tenn.

James Rokaitis, a Modesto, Calif., police detective, received an award from the state in recognition of his efforts in coordinating and overseeing a multi-agency law enforcement operation that focused on reducing underage drinking.

1986

Laura Cutrer Ford is human resources director at Augustana College, Rock Island.

Jeffery Frick was named academic dean at St. Norbert College, DePere, Wis.

1987

Lynette Skow Rasmussen, corporate counsel for The Rasmussen Group, Des Moines, Iowa, was appointed Honorary Consul for Denmark in Des Moines by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

1989

Laura Baumbach Crumbleholme was elected vice president/president elect of the Iowa Federation of Music Clubs.

Lane Liebergen is director of regional sales for Asia/Pacific Rim at Nasco International, Fort Atkinson, Wis.
