Meet Dr. David Walton at Alumni Weekend May 22
Dr. David Walton '98 will be the keynote speaker at our 150th Commencement Convocation on Sunday, May 23.
He works in Haiti operating clinics for Partners in Health, a medical aid group with clinics in Haiti and eight other countries. He was working in Haiti soon after the earthquake in January. He says the strength of the Haitian people serves as an inspiration for him.
Alumni are invited to meet Dr. Walton at a reception in the Wilson Center from 4-5 p.m. on Saturday, May 22.

2,694 people launch our ice cream
People waited patiently in what may have been the longest line ever seen at Augustana College April 20 with a single goal: To set a new world record for the number of people in a chain eating ice cream simultaneously.
And they did it, at least unofficially: 2,694 people ate ice cream for one minute, counted down on the scoreboard at Ericson Field. Read more

ACADEMICS
A new major in neuroscience
The faculty has approved a new major in neuroscience for the fall of 2010. Dr. Ian Harrington and Dr. Erin Stoffel will co-direct the program. "What I think makes neuroscience so well suited to Augustana is that it draws on the sciences and humanities," said Dr. Harrington. "We hope to encourage our students to appreciate the brain in a broad context." Read more
